I posted this picture on Facebook.
As my son walked by, I asked, “What do you think of Mommy’s picture?
He assessed the photo for a few seconds and said, “You’re beautiful.”
Oh. My. Word. I just melted into a puddle of mush! I swear the heavens parted, and I heard angels singing.
My husband came over to see what all the cooing was about.
“Look at Mommy,” my little man said to his father. “She’s beautiful, Daddy.”
Since I don’t believe it was possible for me to melt any further, I must have evaporated into a mist of joy!
I vaguely heard my husband agreeing with my guy, but I was already gone in my own mind.
“You are so wonderful!” I continued to hug my boy. “Is there anything I can do for you? Do you need anything?”
“No. I’m fine,” the little guy responded, confused by my reaction.
“I tell Mommy that all the time, but I never get that reaction,” my husband said laughing at me.
The old man has no idea the little miracle it is when a son says “You’re beautiful” to his mother for the first time. And that isn’t even the best picture I’ve ever taken!
Seriously, this boy can skip nap time for the rest of his life if he wants. He could never clean up his toys again. He could turn the whole place upside down for all I care.
I am on a natural high, and until it wears off, I will be his minion!
